Scott Phillips

About ME

I started playing drums at age 12. I was born the 2nd son to Gold Logie winner Hazel Phillips. Mum was voted Best Female personalty in 1967. She was the first woman on Australian Television. ATN Seven, She was in the original "Beauty and the Beast" with Eric Baum. She was also the last person to interview Sharon Tate alive, before she was murdered by Charles Manson. I attended N.I.D.A and went to "The New School" with teachings by Rudolf Steiner Hertfordshire, England. After a couple of school bands I joined a jazz/funk band called "Maya". My brother, Mark was, and still is, a great Guitarist, he had a big influence on me. We played numbers by Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, Chick Corea, Miles Davis & Toto, and generally played a few gigs at Unis. We did that for a few years up and down the Northern Beaches of Sydney, playing parties, being totally cocooned in our own musical exclusivity, and no-one got it! I met Howard Jackson, Guitarist and Singer/songwriter, we started "Sweet Poison" an original two piece band and went to Tasmania to rehearse and write. Howard and I played together for fifteen years changing names to Suite Poison and eventually Lunar Circus, playing six nights a week and being featured in magazines like Am and On the Street. I built a wealth of experience as a drummer and music took me to places and introduced me to many people and muso's all over the country who became friends: Marc Hunter,Michael Hutchins, Ted Mulry, Steve Gilpin, most of who haven't survived. I got into some of Sydney cover bands: Ted Heath goes Latin, A funk band called Bastiaans Fascination, an original rock band called Viva lost Wages. I moved to Brisbane for a few years, played in a cover band called Jump Club, we played all over the South East. Andrew G (Aussie Idol fame) was part of our road crew, we had some wild times. I've done stints as DJ, M.C., Duos, singing covers in coffee shops, spruiked, been Entertainment manager at a couple of resorts, you name it, I gave it a go. Since moving to the Gold Coast I appeared at The Castle Theatre Restaurant in Tugun for 3 to 4 years, singing, dancing and was lead actor for a while. Mike was a great boss, we all had a ball. I met Mel and Damo at the Castle because we were all in the show together, after the show we jammed and Cloud 9 was formed. We recorded an album Soulfire, played at local gigs/parties,and festivals including Joy Fest, Wollumbin and Woodford. During one of these festivals I sat in with Future Native, as their drummer hadn't shown up. I was with Future Native for about four years, and have toured with them to Canada and Texas for C.M.W. and sXSW. Future native are still a part of my life. My wife Andrea is my coordinator, & we make a good team.

What Now?

2006-Present Day:

Building up his solo career, Scott has been performing with backings at Tugun Seahawks, Robina Bowls and Binna Burra and rehearsing in a Duo called Jazzstar.

Over the last 4 years Scott has toured to Canada and Houston, Texas. He played drums and sang backup vocals with local original band, Future Native. They have filmed 3 music videos and are recording their third album.

His interest and experience together with his hands on approach makes Scott and invaluable performer, coupled with unique ability to know what an audience wants. Scott gets satisfaction from knowing he's done the best he can, for that audience. The audiences he has performed for have loved to dance and remember a bygone era.

Now Scott would like to find work as either a Solo or Duo, depending on the Venue's budget.

For Solo $350.00 Duo $450.00 for 3 hours.(With P.A.) Travel etc to be negotiated.

Scott is a team player. The attitude of the show must go on and

no matter what the performance will always have the same level

of energy.
